Outsourcing
The "outsourcing" category of this blog holds additional resources to complement the presentations I am giving on this topic at internet marketing related conferences.
If nothing else, I recommend you set aside one hour and a $50 budget to try out outsourcing for yourself. Just go to oDesk and post a quick job about a logo design, landing page design, article writing, small PHP script or anything else that you feel comfortable using as a test project.
I bet you'll like what you get! Please share your feedback!
Interview of Gary Swart, CEO of oDesk
April 17th, 2010If you saw my presentation at SES or CAC about outsourcing on oDesk, you may also be interested in this interview of the CEO of oDesk. At the very least it should give you an idea of how strong that whole trend is developing...
Outsourcing Everything - SES London 2010 presentation
February 17th, 2010We had a nice new session on Offshore Outsourcing at SES London today. I personally enjoyed presenting and the Q&A segment was very interesting in my opinion. I also got some nice feedback which is always nice. Globally I think it was a good session. If you were there, please let us know what you thought! :)
I promised to a few people that I'd make the powerpoint available right away, so here it is; there is a download link at the bottom of this post. It's a bit heavy (2.6 MB) so I'll see if I can somehow come up with a lighter version.
Also, as promised, here's a longer list of sites you can use to start outsourcing work today:
- 99designs
- Amazon mechanical turk
- Elance
- Freelancer
- Guru
- LimeExchange
- oDesk <------------- my personal favorite
- PeoplePerHour
- RentACoder
If you're already using another site that works well for you, please let us know also!
Finally, if you have some unanswered questions, feel free to post them below.
Thanks for your feedback! ;)

Speaking at SES London in February
January 22nd, 2010I will be speaking at SES London next month about one of my favorite topics recently: Offshore Outsourcing.
In the last 6 months I've been interviewing more than 300 providers in different developing countries and hired about 50 of them. I believe I've learned quite a few useful things about how to optimize the process! ;)
Come check out my panel on the 17th: "Best Practices in Offshore Outsourcing for Digital Marketing". It should be interesting!
Also, let me know if you need a coupon code for SES (I can get you 20% off registration).
